I hold a B.Eng. (1st class) in Electronic & Control Engineering and a Ph.D. in Machine Vision (thesis title "The automatic extraction and tracking of moving image features"). After my Ph.D. I spent 2 years as a Research Associate in the Electronic Systems Group at the University of Sheffield working on 3D surface reconstruction from stereo S.E.M. images. Until recently I was a Research Associate working in the Neuro-imaging Analysis Centre (NiAC) which is in the Division of Imaging Science and Bio-medical Engineering at the University of Manchester, where I work on a range of neuro-imaging projects. I am currently working on a machine vision project with British Aerospace.
My research interests are in all areas of machine vision and medical image analysis. I have worked on methods of feature extraction, motion analysis, stereo depth estimation, surface reconstruction as well as neuro MR and CT image analysis problems. I am interested in the application of technology to medical image analysis, such as High-Performance Computing for large scale data analysis tasks and the use of client-server and WWW technologies for remote site data analysis. I am a supporter of Open Source software as a method of disseminating scientific results. |
